Our Story
A Historic Estate in the Minho
Quinta de Lamoso is more than a historic estate. It is a place where generations have passed, where nature still sets the rhythm of the days and the history of the house blends with the life of the countryside. Nestled in the charming spa village of Caldelas, in the municipality of Amares, the estate sits by the River Homem, surrounded by lush green landscapes, ancient trees, vineyards, and breathtaking views of the majestic Monte de S. Pedro.
A centuries-old property whose coat of arms was carved in 1725, the estate has recently undergone careful renovations to adapt the distinctive architecture of Minho's manor houses to the functional and comfort demands of modern life. Today, following this careful restoration, the estate opens its doors to those seeking accommodation in the Minho, moments of tranquillity, or a special setting to celebrate life's important milestones.
Historical Context
From the Marinho Falcão Family to the Present Day
The Casa de Lamoso and its outbuildings date from the second quarter of the 18th century, built by the Marinho Falcão family. The coat of arms of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia was commissioned by António Sebastião Marinho Falcão, administrator of the Lamoso estate and lord of the Casa do Campo de Santana in Braga, who passed away on 17 December 1763.
After successive generations under the Marinho Falcão family, the property was acquired in 1955 by Dr. Aníbal de Oliveira. The estate — also known as Quinta de Lamoso — comprised an urban core (the main house and annexes) and a rural area of surrounding farmland.
To this day, Quinta de Lamoso remains in the hands of the Oliveira family. Recently, the property underwent a careful restoration and renovation, seeking to preserve the historic character of the manor house and its traditional buildings while adapting them to the comfort demands of contemporary life.
